Petroglyphs: Petroglyphs is a statewide animal newspaper in New Mexico, packed with expert advice, cool products and services, local animal events, etc. The website features news about pending legislation, up-to-date regional events and archives of past issues and much more.

Equine Spirit Sanctuary: 501(c)(3) horse sanctuary devoted to bringing horses and people together. This is our project, so I personally oversee the care of the horses and get to meet and greet everyone. We are currently looking for a location to house the sanctuary, which is in the startup stages, and are organizing programs for therapeutic riding, horse rescue and education about horses. While primarily devoted to horses, we never turn away any animal in need.

Goldstar Animals Helping People: 501(c)(3) organization in Taos that offers programs for people and animals, including mounted search and rescue registered with the state of New Mexico and dog visitation and therapy programs with Delta Society registered dogs. This is the program that I am going to be a part of. We go to nursing homes, schools, the library, hospice settings, family and children counseling, and court interviews with children.

Delta Society: national organization established in 1977 whose mission is to improve human health through service and therapy animals. Their goals:

  • Expand awareness of the positive effect animals can have on human health and development.
  • Remove barriers that prevent involvement of animals in everyday life.
  • Expand the therapeutic and service role of animals in human health, service, and education.

Four Corner Animal League - This organization's goal is to ensure that every pet has a safe and loving home, by working to reduce the population of unwanted pets through spaying, neutering and providing education programs to make this a safer community for everyone.

Big Book of Puppy Names: Choose the perfect name for your new pup, no matter what their breed, by having hundreds of names right at your fingertips to select from! Did you know that "Max" is the most popular name for a big dog? And Labs (like Me) are also one of the most popular dogs for family pets. I feel pretty good that so many dogs are named after me! But in case you want a unique name for your new pooch, this book will help you find that name.

The Problem Cat:
A website that answers the question, "How can I get along with my cat?" Most problems related to feline behavior can be traced to one very basic concept: A cat is not a dog! Because dogs are more easily trained according to human expectations and methods, cats are already set up to "fail." They can be taught to do most of the same things that dogs do, but the training methods are very different - so different, that people who try to "control" a cat are going to be disappointed, or even angry. This web site contains information and resources all about cats. Since cats are important members of the family, I am putting this link here.

Me-Sah: Stay in touch with the spirit world with spiritual reading, spiritual healing, and animal communication with Flagstaff, Arizona, clairvoyant psychic Me-Sah. When I was a young puppy, Ruth took me to a communication class with Me-Sah. It was great fun and Ruth learned a lot!

Contrary to Ordinary is a website dedicated to the education and awareness of how overlooked and underadopted dark coated canines are in shelter and rescue situations. Please visit to see how you can help the black pearl dogs in your neighborhood avoid black dog syndrome.
