The best Chow Chow cross ever! Smoki is no longer with us, but is fondly remembered. If you like Chows or are interested in making a Chow part of your family, please check out the following:

| Jackson |
| Jackson is my adopted brother. He's a Muttweiler who showed up one day in our back pasture. He was starving, terrified of people and had a nasty old injury on one of his front paws which made him limp. Ruth told him that if he came up to the house we'd give him a good meal. So he did. |
|
|
She figured he'd eat and then take off, as fearful as he was of people. But he curled up on my comfy mattress on the front porch and the next morning when we got up, he was still there.
That was July 3, the day before the big forest fire near Taos that took several weeks to put out.
Jackson never did leave and now is part of our family. He is fiercely protective of us and is a wonderful guard dog, but now that he's been neutered and had time to learn to trust people, he is very gentle and loving. |

He was one sorry sight.

| EmmyLou and Jose Pussycats |
| EmmyLou and Jose are part of my family also. Both were feral cats that a nice friend of Ruth's had been putting food out for. It was getting to be late fall, early winter 2005 and turning cold here in Taos. The ladies were trying to find homes for the homeless cats, so Ruth decided to bring one home. She caught EmmyLou and brought her home. |

Then a few weeks later, her friend came to work with an itsy-bitsy fluffy bundle in a box. She asked Ruth to take him home.
Little Jose was barely four weeks old and had apparently been abandoned by his mama. He didn't even know how to eat by himself. He was a real crybaby! We took good care of him and he survived, and has grown up to be one ornery puss. He spent so much time cuddled up with me when he was a baby, for a while I think he thought he was a dog. He still likes to go for walks with us. |

Bindy and Ruth
Last, but not least, is my favorite person in the whole world - Ruth - and her favorite (and only) donkey, Bindy. Bindy is a miniature donkey who is in training to be a Delta certified therapy donkey.
Ruth has written several articles on horses and pets, many of which can be found at ezines.com:
We have other horses and three goldfish, too.
